Aixa Mª Aguilera Garrido

Aixa Mª Aguilera Garrido, graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Granada in 2015. She joined the Biocolloid and Fluid Physics group, Department of Applied Physics, at 2016 during the master practice period. Since 2017, she is PhD student at the Biomedicine programme, working at Biocolloid and Fluid Physics group in the ‘Smart olive-oil nanocapsules for oral delivery of drugs against pancreatic cancer stem cells’ project. The objective of this research is the development of an oral therapy for the treatment of pancreatic cancer by mean of olive oil nanocapsules. The work is currently focused on the study of the nanocapsules in vitro digestibility and how shell composition of nanocapsules can affect such digestibility. Intestinal absorption, integrity and functionality of nanocapsules is being evaluated after incubating in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.
